Valuables & Lost Items
1. All valuables should be sent home with a family member or friend. If this is not possible, all valuables should be sent to the hospital safe.
2. Valuables are any item belonging to the patient that need to be locked up for safety. This includes wallets, money, important papers, jewelry and electronic devices.
3. Belongings are items kept at the bedside during the patient's stay. These do not need to be locked up. Belongings include glasses, contacts, hearing aids and dentures. These items should be placed in protective containers when not in use. The hospital does not accept responsibility for items kept at the bedside.
Dentures, hearing aids, or eyeglasses should be placed in protective containers when not in use. Never wrap them in tissue or leave them on your food tray, because they may be thrown away by mistake.
Unclaimed articles are turned in to the nurse's station where they are kept for several days. To inquire about lost articles, call and ask for the appropriate nurse's station.
